Looking for an unexpected way to add a little sparkle to the kitchen? How about a chandelier to give an elegant, refined look to overhead lighting?

It doesn’t have to be stuffy to be brilliant. A pair of polished lanterns would do the trick

On the other hand, going glam in the kitchen makes a dramatic statement here:

Stone House Made of 99% Recycled Granite

You’ve heard about proverbial glass houses and straw houses, but a house constructed from recycled granite? That was the case with a design emerging from Milan Design Week in the form of John Pawson’s House of Stone, which is constructed from stone blocks composed of 99% recycled granite.

“Working together with the leading stone craftsmen of Italy under the auspices of Gabriele Salvatori, Pawson found a way to utilize tons of cast-off stone, which cost millions of Euros to dispose of. His elegant stone house is composed of stone ‘bricks’ and features a series of fissures that create beautiful plays of light — both inside and out,” according to Inhabitat.com.

The coolest feature, according to the blog post: “The fact that each piece could be ‘designed’ to carry the architect’s signature. Unlike with brick, no two buildings using this stunning stone will have the same surface design.”

What a neat idea! Check out House of Stone Made Out of Recycled Granite Debuts in Milan on Inhabitat.com to see more images of this house made of stone!
